Ook dit is een onderwerp van de workshop van deze maand: Aan de hand van de zwart/wit foto een tekening maken en deze later in kleur uitwerken. Het is een oefening in het schilderen met grijstinten. Ook de compositie is belangrijk, dus:

- het onderwerp niet in het midden van het schilderi:

- zorgen voor een evenwicht in de boompartijen;

- letten op perspectief in verhouding tot de horizonlijn;

- het bepalen van een focuspunt.

Dit punt is hier de hoek van de hut. Een idee voor de volgende keer, het focuspunt nog sterker aangeven.

Also this is a subject of the workshop of this month: Create a painting on the basis of the black/white copy. It is an exercise in painting with shades of gray. Also the composition is important, so:

- the subject not in the middle of the painting

- ensuring a balance in the trees;

- pay attention to perspective in relation to the horizon line;

- determinate a focus point. 

In this painting this point is the corner of the hut. An idea for the next time, paint the focus point a bit stronger.

Laag water

 

Laag water, aquarel op Arches torchon, 32 x 40 cm 

Ook hier een sfeervol landschap, deze keer met een hoge horizon. Aan de hand van de zwart/wit foto hieronder mogen wij, als cursisten van de 4 daagse workshop, onze fantasie de vrije loop laten. De zigzag lijn die ongeveer van boven naar beneden loopt bepaalt de harmonie in het schilderij, het kleurengamma is beperkt en de focus ligt op het donkere deel bovenin. De structuur van het papier maakt het mogelijk met paletmes droge verf aan te brengen, zoals in de lijnen op de voorgrond. Bij gebrek aan paletmes kan je hier ook prima een creditcard voor gebruiken.

Another attractive landscape, this time with a high horizon. As students of the 4 day workshop we are allowed to let our imagination run wild with as basis the black/white photo below. The zigzag line that runs from top to bottom determines the harmony in the painting, the colors are limited and the focus is on the dark part at the top. The structure of the paper makes it possible to paint dry with a palette knife, as shown in the lines in the foreground. In the absence of palette knife you can also use a credit card.

De baai van Arcachon

In de week van 4 t/m 7 oktober heb ik een workshop gevolgd. Evenals vorig jaar was onze cursusleidster Marie Labille,  ( http://marielabille.jimdo.com/,)
De onderwerpen waren: Poëtische sferen in landschappen, kleur en sfeer in zeegezichten, personnages in de regen.

Dit schilderij is een van de opdrachten. Een zwart-wit foto van de baai van Arcachon (ligt ten zuiden van Bordeaux) dient als inspiratiebron. De focus is gelegd op de rij met houten staken op de voorgrond. In de lucht dreigt een onweer. De harmonie van het schilderij ligt in de denkbeeldige lijn, die van links boven naar rechts onder loopt.
De basis voor mijn schilderij is de tekening in houtskool die je hieronder ziet. De bootjes die ik er op getekend heb, zijn in de definitieve versie niet opgenomen.

In the week of 4 to 7 October, I followed a workshop. Our teacher, as well as last year, was Marie Labille (http://marielabille.jimdo.com/,), the topics were: Poetic atmospheres in landscapes and seascapes, characters and atmosphere in a rainy street.

This painting is one of the challenges. A black and white photo of the Bay of Arcachon (is located south of Bordeaux) serves as a source of inspiration. The focus is placed on the row of wooden stakes in the foreground. In the sky you see the danger of a lightning storm. The harmony of the painting is set in the imaginary line, which runs from top left to bottom right.The basis for my painting is the drawing in charcoal that you see below. The boats that I have drawn, are not included in the final version.
